Compsns. for stripping consisting of (i) 30-90 wt.% esp. 70 wt.% of 2-pyrrolidinone compd. of formula (I) and (ii) 10-70 wt.% esp. 30 wt.% of tetrahydrothiophen-1,1-dioxide of formula (II). In the formula, R=H, C1-3 alkyl or C1-3 hydroxy alkyl, R1=H, Me or Et. Addn. of 3-20 wt.% of polyethyleneglycole and 10-30 wt.% of diethyleneglycole mono alkyl ether to the basic mixt. to provide more effective stripping compsns.
