PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic base causing no frilling in a photosensitive layer by development by forming a layer of a specified silane coupling agent on the surface of a metal capable of causing specular reflection of diffuse reflection of the second kind. CONSTITUTION:A silane coupling agent expressed by formula I or II is incorporated into an adhesive layer on the surface of a metal capable of causing specular reflection or diffuse reflection of the second kind. In formulas I, II, Y is an org. functional group; R is an 1-5C alkylene group; R' is an 1-4C alkoxy group; n is 2 or 3. Concrete examples for the silane coupling agent are vinyl trichlorosilane, vinyl tris(beta-methoxyethoxy)silane, etc. The base having a surface capable of causing specular reflection or diffuse reflection of the second kind is obtd. by forming a thin film layer consisting of a material which provides a specular reflector when the surface is smooth enough, on a substrate of a base. By this constitution, a photographic base generating no defect such as frilling of a photosensitive material layer during, before, or after development, is provided. |
