PURPOSE:To obtain an electric discharge printing head having high resolving power, by combining a pair of head half bodies so that the surfaces each having electrode needles and other constitutional parts mounted thereon are opposed to each other and the electrode needle rows thereof are arranged in a zigzag pattern. CONSTITUTION:Electrode needles 1, 1' are respectively temporarily fixed to the grooves, which are provided to the supports 2a, 2a' of the half bodies of a pair of heads A, B having resolving power of 8 dots/mm, at density of 8 needles/mm. Not only the connection of the electrode needles 1, 1' and driving ICs 4, 4' but also the connection thereof from circuit boards 5, 5' to connectors 8a, 8a' are performed by fine conductors 6, 6' and 7, 7' according to a TAB method and base substrates 3a, 3a' are composed of aluminum and also used as outer shell cases. As mentioned above, when an adhesive is applied to the embedding surfaces of the electrode needles 1, 1' of the supports 2a, 2a' and the connectors 8a, 8a' and the electrode needles are meshed with the groove parts of the supports 2a, 2a' to be bonded under pressure by the curing of the adhesive in such a state that the mounting and electrical connection of the respectively constitutional parts of the head half bodies A, B are finished, the leading ends of the electrode needles are arranged in a zigzag pattern and a discharge printing head having high resolving power of 16 dots/mm can be obtained. |
