PURPOSE:To form a Magenta dye picture image having superior hue and to improve reproducibility of color by incorporating a specified Magenta coupler and a specified compd. into a silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:At least one Magenta coupler expressed by formula I and at least one compd. expressed by formula II are incorporated into at least one layer of silver halide emulsion layers. In formula I, Z is group of nonmetal atoms. necessary for forming an N-contg. heterocyclic ring; X is an H atom. or a group eliminated by a reaction with an oxidized body of a color developing agent; R is an H atom. or a substituent. In formula II, each R<1>-R<3> is an aliphatic or an aromatic group; each l-n is zero or 1. By this constitution, spectral absorption characteristic of a Magenta dye is improved and reproducibility of color is also improved.
