PURPOSE:To accomplish efficient separation of high-purity glucosyl-cyclodextrins, by bringing a saccharine solution containing glucosyl-cyclodextrins into contact with a chemically modified silica substrate followed by elution, with warm water, of the cyclodextrins adsorbed. CONSTITUTION:A saccharine solution containing glucosyl-cyclodextrins, cyclodextrins and oligosaccharides is brought into contact with a chemically modified silica substrate followed by fractionation and eluation, with warm water, of the cyclodextrins contained to separate the glucosyl-cyclodextrins from the cyclodextrins. Said chemically modified silica substrate can be prepared by reaction e.g. between silica gel and an alkyl chlorosilane followed by, if needed, reaction with trimethyl chlorosilane. Said fractionation and elution can preferably performed by either stepwise or continuously raising the temperature of the eluate to pref. 20-80 deg.C.
