PURPOSE:To carry out highly accurate engine control by obtaining the maximum value of the detected values of a knocking sensor certain number of times and setting a controlled variable in such a way that the distribution characteristic of the generating frequency with respect to the size of the detected maximum values becomes symmetrical. CONSTITUTION:The maximum value of the detected signals of a knocking sensor 4 is obtained certain number of times by a maximum value detecting means 5, and the distribution characteristic of the generating frequency with respect to the size of the plural detected maximum values is operated by a distribution characteristic operating means 6. And, the controlled variable of engine control is set so that the distribution characteristic becomes symmetrical by a controlled variable setting means 7, and the ignition timing of an ignition plug 3 is controlled by a combustion condition control means 2, to restrain the knocking of an engine 1. Thereby, even if background noise and a knocking signal are varied due to the error between each knocking sensor, each engine or operating condition, or secular change, etc., the controlled variable of engine can be set in accordance with change in regular distribution characteristic, accurately grasping the generating condition of knocking to carry out engine control with high accuracy. |
