PURPOSE:To readily impart electrically conductivity to a material without impairing properties essential thereof, by applying an organic solvent containing pyrrole, a polymerization catalyst and thermoplastic resin dissolved therein, drying the formed films and producing an electrically conductive composite on the surface and in the interior of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:An organic solvent (e.g. tetrahydrofuran) containing (A) (i) pyrrole and/or a derivative thereof, (ii) a polymerization catalyst (e.g. FeCl3.6H2 O) and (iii) a thermoplastic resin (e.g. polyvinyl chloride) dissolved therein is applied to (B) a substrate (e.g. cotton cloth or nylon) and dried to form an electrically conductive composite polymer on the surface and/or interior of the substrate. Thereby the aimed composite material is obtained. furthermore, the component (ii) is used in an amount of preferably 0.2-5mol. based on 1mol. component (i).
