PURPOSE:To enable maintenance work of an ink jet recorder to be safely and easily carried out, by providing a cover component capable of covering environment of a discharge opening of a recording head, and an establishing component by which the cover component is established at a position where the vicinity of the discharge opening is covered thereby in relation to the action by which release is carried out. CONSTITUTION:A paper guide component 201A arranged on an upper unit 1a side is also used as a cover component of a recording head 101. Though the upper unit 1a is caused to pivot to a lower unit 1b when an ink jet recorder is maintained, engagement of an engaging component 309 and an arm part 305 is released at that time, and a switching lever 305 pivots clockwise until an arm part 305A is fixed engagedly with a stopper 311 by energized force of a spring 307. The paper guide 201A which pivots in one united body with the switching lever 305 via a fixing axis 306 is positioned at a position for covering vicinity of a discharge opening 101b of the recording head 101 under this state. Therefore, a space required for maintenance work of the ink jet recorder such as repair of each part, exchange of ink absorbing element, removal and disposal of jam, etc. is secured and maintenance work of the ink jet recorder can be safely easily carried out without paying attention to the recording head. |
