PURPOSE:To obtain the titled liquid crystal composition having high-speed response, sufficient memory even in a thin cell and good contrast in display, containing a specific liquid crystal compound. CONSTITUTION:The aimed liquid crystal composition containing one or more of compounds shown by formula I-V (R1-R5 are 4-12C alkyl or alkoxy; group shown by formula VI is group shown by formula VII-IX; n is 1-10). The preferable blending ratio of the compounds is 2-90wt.% compound shown by formula I, 1-50wt.% compound shown by formula II, 1-50wt.% compound shown by formula III, 1-50wt.% compound shown by formula IV and 1-50wt.% compound shown by formula V.
