PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient luminous quantity by using a cold cathode fluorescent tube as a light source. CONSTITUTION:A light radiated from a cold cathode fluorescent tube 103 passes through a transparent conductive film transparent plate 106, picks up information of an original 105 and the image is formed on a magnification image pickup element 101 by a magnification type image forming element 102. A material having a conductivity such as a conductive resin is used for a support 104 and the support 104 is arranged so as to shut the magnification type image pickup element 101 and the cold cathode fluorescent tube 103. As the cold cathode fluorescent tube 103, the cold cathode fluorescent tube sealing a rare gas such as xenon gas is used.
