PURPOSE:To permit mass production of a long-sized medium at an excellent signal to noise level (C/N) by depositing a ferromagnetic metal by electron beam evaporation onto a high-polymer film which is electrostatically attracted on an endless belt turning in and out of a vacuum vessel. CONSTITUTION:The vacuum vessel 21 is divided to an upper chamber 22 and a lower chamber 23 as well as to a charge particle projection chamber 25 for attracting the high-polymer film 24 electrostatically to the endless belt 20. The ferromagnetic metal is deposited by electron beam evaporation on the high- polymer film 24 which is electrostatically attracted to the endless belt 20 turning in and out of the vacuum vessel 21. Precise control of the temp. of the belt 20 is, therefore, permitted and since the temp. of the film 24 attracted electrostatically to said belt can be maintained constant, the microscopically uniform magnetic characteristics are obtd. The magnetic recording medium having the low noise and good C/N is thereby obtd. in a large length.
