PURPOSE:To decrease the time up to the start of transmission of a picture data into a required minimum time by progressing forcibly a transmission sequence in response to a transmission line and a receiver or the like. CONSTITUTION:When a transmission start switch 72 is depressed, a prescribed signal is frozen by a memory circuit 36 according to the reproduction mode decided by a reproduction mode switch 82 and the transmission mode selected by transmission mode switches 76, 78 and 80. The transit to the next transmission mode is inhibited for, e.g., 5sec from the start of transmission in the transmission mode and the next transmission mode is forcibly transited for e.g. 30 sec, after the start of transmission. In the picture data transmission mode, the picture data for transmission formed by the picture data accommodated in the memory circuit 36 is supplied to a transmission circuit 64.
