PURPOSE:To realize a light gas sensor excellent in response as well as sensitivity, by building up a thermosensitive element with a Pt wire while an element for temperature compensation is built up with a Pt wire coated with a resin. CONSTITUTION:A Pt wire 2 is used as thermosensitive element 1 while a Pt wire coated with a heat resistant resin such as polyimideamide or an amorphous insulating material 9 such as glass as element 8 for temperature compensation. The thermosensitive element 1 and the element 8 for temperature compensation are connected to a bridge to reduce current flowing through the element 8 for temperature compensation less than that flowing through the thermosensitive element 1 with a resistance 11. With such an arrangement, the use of the Pt wire itself as catalyst enables a lighter weight and a better response. A smaller current flowing through the element for temperature compensation eliminates sensitivity to CO even when a coated part is exposed to CO through any pinhole or the like.
