PURPOSE:To improve the response at start by using a memory with small capacity and fast leading after power application and a large sized memory with slow leading speed in common. CONSTITUTION:When an incoming call is detected by a line control section 4 and power is applied, a 1st memory 8 is led completely nearly momentarily after power application, but the operation of a 2nd memory 9 is led completely after power application. An image data fed from a band compression and decoding section 3 from the application of power till the complete leading of the 2nd memory 9 is stored in the 1st memory 8 and succeeding image data is stored in the 2nd memory 9. The image data stored in the memories 8, 9 are read sequentially to an image data storage section 5 and reproduced as a received picture. The memories 8, 9 are used similarly even at the start of transmission.
