PURPOSE:To make the positioning adjustment and assembling of an upper and lower arms easier at the time of assembling a both-face head supporting mechanism so as to automate the adjusting and assemble jobs, by installing engaging sections which are engaged with head position adjusting jigs to the upper and lower arms. CONSTITUTION:This both-face head supporting mechanism contains an upper and lower arms 12 and 14, arm supporting body 16, carriage 18, and common supporting spring 20. The upper and lower arms 12 and 14 are respectively equipped with an upper and lower heads 22 and 24 which support a magnetic disk from both sides at positions facing each other and engaging sections 36, 36a, 38a, 36b, and 38b which are engaged with head position adjusting jigs 106a, 108a, 106b, and 108b. Before this both-face head supporting mechanism is mounted on a magnetic disk drive, the head position adjusting jigs are engaged with the engaging sections of both arms and the head is moved to the reference position of a standard magnetic disk while the disk is inserted into and positioned properly in the magnetic head drive. Therefore, the head position adjusting jigs can be controlled automatically and assembling property is sharply improved.
