PURPOSE:To make it possible to convey various kinds of webs while meandering thereof is corrected by disposing a vacuum web guide for correcting the meandering of webs, in a dryer. CONSTITUTION:A web selvage end detector 5 is arranged downstream of a vacuum web guide device E which is disposed in a dyer, substantially at the center thereof. The detector 5 converts a widthwise variation of a web B passing through the dryer into a variation in air pressure, and a pneumatic-hydraulic servo-valve 6 changes the flow rate of oil fed to the rod side or head side of a cylinder 7 in accordance with such a variation in air pressure so as to extend or retract the cylinder 7. Due to the operation of the cylinder, rollers 1a through 1f which have captured the web B are turned right and left together with a suction box 2 about a point, as a pivotal point, on a machine center upstream of the rollers under vacuum action of the box 2. Due the turn of the rollers, the web B is conveyed at a high speed in such a condition that meandering of the web B captured by the rollers is corrected.
