PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of inspection and next stage operation by placing compartments each for a specific number of books after gathered leaves corresponding to a specific number of books, performing gathered folding of leaves corresponding to a specific number of books, and partitioning the gathered folded leaves. CONSTITUTION:A conveyor 2 is partitioned into compartments i),- by attachments 3 and driven intermittently at pitches of compartments i),-. Supplying units I-VIII to supply folded leaves are driven after every pitch motion of the compartments i),- one after another, and stacked there to provide gathered leaves corresponding to a specific number of books. When the compartment receiving the gathered folded leaves corresponding to a specific number of books passes the first supplying unit I, the supplying units I,- are stopped one after another until the amount corresponding to the set number of books, for ex. two compartments, have passed one after another, and after passage, are driven again one after another. Accordingly the gathered folded leaves corresponding to a specific number of books are partitioned into two compartments, and continuous gathered folding of leaves is carried out. This allows easy binding operation etc. at later stages.
