NEW MATERIAL:A physiologically active substance FA-1819 having the following physico-chemical properties. Appearance; white solid. Elementary analysis (%); C, 62-68; H, 6.4-8.8; Mass spectrometric value (m/z); 670 (EI-MS), 711 (FD-MS); Estimated molecular formula; C36-38H48-56O11-13. Specific rotatory power [alpha]D<24>=-135+ or -5 deg. (C=0.5, methanol), etc. USE:An antiobese antidiabetic agent having excellent inhibitory action on synthesis of fatty acids. PREPARATION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptomyces and having the ability to produce a physiologically active substance FA-1819 [e.g. Streptomyces sp. No.1819 strain (FERM P-9322)] is cultivated, preferably at 20-37 deg.C and initial starting pH 6-8 for 1-10 days. |
