PURPOSE:To read a translucent original during an automatic feeding at a favorable condition by fixing and installing a light source at a position above an original conveying path so as to face in the direction, in which the translucent original, placed on an original platen, can be illuminated. CONSTITUTION:When the translucent original is set in an original feeding table 68, the moving carriages such as a first carriage 118, a second carriage 121, etc., are fixed, and the conveyance of the translucent original by an original feeding device 54 is started. The conveyed translucent original is conveyed on the original conveying path toward an illuminating part, in which the light source 58 is provided, by a conveying belt 62, rotating in an arrow mark direction. The light of the light source 58 is transmitted through a diffusion plate 61 and the translucent original, and reaches a photosensitive body drum 80 through a first mirror 116, a second mirror 122, third mirror 124, a focusing lens 126, a fourth mirror 128, a color separation filter 130 and so on, and a latent image bearing is processed.
