PURPOSE:To produce residual (R)-3-halogeno-1,2-propane diol, by reacting (R, S)-3-halogeno-1,2-propanediol with a microorganism belonging to the genus Serratia. CONSTITUTION:(R, S)-3-Halogeno-1,2-propanediol is reacted with a microorgan ism belonging to the genus Serratia and the residual (R)-3-halogeno-1,2-propane diol is collected. When the above-mentioned compound is reacted with the micro organism, a SH group-containing compound is preferably added to the reaction liquid. The microorganism includes Serratia marcescens, Serratia liquefaciens, Serratia marinomorubra, etc. The SH group-containing compound includes dithiothreitol, dithioerythritol, glutathione, cysteine, mercaptoethanol, thio glycerin, etc. |
