A printer having a printing head provided with a plurality of printing elements disposed substantially along a line, a cylinder supporting a print sheet such as a sheet of paper held by an edge clamp and an ink ribbon changer. Four ink ribbons, for example, are contained each in a cartridge removably attached to a support and indexing mechanism.
