PURPOSE:To enhance the effectiveness in grinding operation by surface treating a grinding sheet consisting of soft aromatic polyimide with the thickness in a specified range, wherein abrasive grains with the means particle size within a specific range are contained at a specific mix proportion by vol.% in such a way as scattered evenly at least throughout the thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:For grinding is used a soft grinding sheet, in which abrasive grains scattered evenly in polyimide sheet of aromatic type having sufficient mechanical strength heat resistance, and resistance against chemicals are contained in the condition fast retained. The surface of this grinding sheet and the surface of work to be ground are pressed together and slid relatively with each other, to accomplish grinding of the surface of work to be ground. This allows repeated grinding either intermittently or continuously, even though abrasive grains at least exposed to the surface coarse have been separated, until the mechanical strength of the grinding sheet attains a level which does not sustain service. |
