PURPOSE:To obtain a porous sound absorbing material having uniform metallic luster by brushing the colored surface layer of a metal sintered body with a wire brush. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a sintered body of a metal such as Al develops a color tone according to a subtle change in sintering conditions. A wire brush made of stainless steel or the like is rotated and pressed against the surface of the sintered body to brush the surface. By this brushing, the discolored surfaces layers of metal particles of the sintered body are ground and removed. Thus, a porous sound absorbing material having uniform metallic luster is obtd. without changing the porosity of the sintered body or chipping the porous surface part.
