IC CARD SYSTEM AND ITS READER/WRITER

PURPOSE:To allow communication between a host computer and an IC card and to provide a reader/writer with general-purpose properties by allowing the reader/writer to convert data or an instruction by using a format conversion table and a parameter setting table. CONSTITUTION:When the IC card 3 is loaded to the reader/writer 2 and information is inputted from an input terminal 9 to the host computer 1, the format conversion table and the parameter setting table are sent to the reader/writer 2 and stored in a RAM 6. When data or an instruction is received by a communication part 7, the contents are transmitted to a CPU 4 and converted into constitution coincident with the protocol specification of the IC card 3 by using the format conversion table. The converted data or instruction is sent to an interface 8 and a communication specification is converted so as to coincide with the protocol specification of the IC card 3 by using the parameter setting table.
