PURPOSE:To easily grasp and correct error control information by vidualizing and outputting information relating to the contents of an error based on designating information when the error exists in control information. CONSTITUTION:A host computer 1 sends formed and edited document information to an input buffer memory 2. A data analysis function part 3 sends the input document information as it is in case of no designation from a control part 10, and at the time of receiving a designation, analyzes the input document information and, when an error exists, generates information relating to the contents of the error. A page buffer memory 4 stores the input document information, control information, the error control information, and error contents information. An output processing function part 5 converts the contents of the memory 4 into dot pattern information and develops the converted information in an image buffer memory 6 (the input document information itself is not developed). After ending the development, the contents of the memory 6 are transferred to a printer engine part 8 through a printer I/F part 7. Consequently, the error contents information of the error control information can be converted into a visual image and sent to the printer.
