PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. which can be thickly coated by dip coating and gives a coating film which scarcely causes a difference in thickness between upper and lower surfaces, by using a water-soluble paint resin, a solvent and a pigment as main components and specifying the thixotropic index and the amount of nonvolatile matter. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble paint resin (e.g., a water-soluble alkyd resin) is mixed with an extender pigment (e.g., BaSO4) or a color pigment (e.g., carbon black), additives such as a dryer, an anti-foaming agent, a leveling agent, etc. and optionally, a thixotropic agent (e.g., org. bentonite) to obtain a water paint compsn. having a thixotropic index of 4.0-6.0 and a nonvolatile matter content of 40-60wt.%, which is used in dip coating.
