PURPOSE:To make it possible to carry out gear ratio control with preference for the efficiency of fuel consumption by increasing the gear ratio so as to enhance accelerating force during start and acceleration of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:During start and acceleration of a vehicle the gear ratio of a continuously variable transmission for the vehicle is controlled so that a desired input side rotational speed which has been compensated to be increased by a predetermined value, coincides with an actual input side rotational speed. Thereafter, during running mode other than start and acceleration, that is, normal running mode, the gear ration of the continuously variable transmission for the vehicle is controlled simply so that the desired input side rotational speed coincides with the actual input side rotational speed. |
