PURPOSE:To carry a detector conveniently and to easily estimate a current position on a map by providing a radio direction finder part equipped with a ferrite bar antenna, a magnet for azimuth measurement, and a rule part with a scale for distance measurement. CONSTITUTION:The direction finder 1 consists of the radio direction finding part equipped with the ferrite bar antenna 4, and the rule part 7 with the scale for distance measurement where the azimuth magnet and ferrite bar antenna 4 are provided in parallel. The direction finder 1 is placed on the map and the north of the map is set to the magnetic north of the azimuth magnet 6. Then the azimuth segment of the point where the electric field intensity of plural known radio stations is minimum is found on the places of the radio stations. Then the current position of the detector is estimated from the intersections of respective prolongations and the distance to a destination is measured on the rule 7 with the scale for distance measurement. Further, when there is only one radio station capable of reception at the current position, a clearly visible target is confirmed on the map and the current position is found from the intersection of the azimuth segment and the azimuth segment from the radio station. |
