PURPOSE:To enable specified conversion of a character size to be easily executed by dialog with a picture, by a method wherein a control code to a character within a conversion range specified on the picture is converted as specified by a size specification means. CONSTITUTION:Now, in the case where four enlarged characters 10 are converted to standard characters 9, when a size specification conversion key 6 is pushed down, a function to be selective is indicated in the lower part of a display picture 3. A cursor is placed on the top WA(Japanese) of the enlarged characters 10. A function that the enlarged character is converted to the standard character is selected by pushing a numeric key 2 down (by pushing 1 down in a reversal case) and, at the same time, the top of a range of characters to be converted is specified. Then, when the cursor is moved onto the tail end RO(Japanese) and an execution key is pushed down, a size specification conversion part 7 stores the data of the standard character 9 in a memory 8 to execute printing. Thus, conversion of the specification of a character size can be easily executed in interactive system with the picture also in a word processor.
