PURPOSE:To obtain the title sizing agent capable of providing a chopped strand with less scuffing and easy to handle by producing the agent from an aq. composition of novolac-type epoxy resin, phenoxy resin, and a nitrogen-contg. quaternary silane compd. CONSTITUTION:The sizing agent contains novolac-type epoxy resin, phenoxy resin, and a nitrogen-contg. quaternary silane compd. The novolac-type epoxy resin shown by formula I (R is H and CH3) is used, and the epoxy equivalency is preferably controlled to 170-230. The phenoxy resin is expressed by formula II, and its weight average mol.wt. is preferably adjusted to 20,000-50,000. The nitrogen-contg. quaternary silane compd. is obtained by decomposing a nitrogen- contg. silane compd. (e.g., gamma-aminopropyltriethoxysilane) in deionized water, and adding acetic acid to the aq. soln. to form a quaternary compd. At this time, the aq. soln. is controlled to <=7.0pH. |
