PURPOSE:To achieve the simplification of a mechanism and the reduction of power consumption, by printing the data of one line simultaneously or in a state divided into many times on the basis of the number of printing pins to be used. CONSTITUTION:The number of the printing pins of a printing head 4 used when the data of one line are printed are calculated. When the number of the printing pins are below the max. number of the printing pins capable of performing printing at a time, the data of one line are simultaneously printed. When the number of the printing pins are equal to or more than the max. number of the printing pins, the dividing printing number of times of the data of one line are calculated and said data are printed in a state divided into the calculated number of times. Therefore, the number of the printing pins simultaneously operating in a printing head are always within a predetermined number, and power consumption can be reduced.
