PURPOSE:To prevent the wear of a magnetic recording medium by separating a pad from a magnetic recording medium at the period of starting or completing the rotational driving of the magnetic recording medium and reducing the pressure welding force of a magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A slider 21 is provided before and behind with respect to the progressing direction of the magnetic recording medium 12 of a pad 11, a pad 11 is supported freely slidably thereon, upper and lower projections 23, 24 provided on both side faces of the pad 11 are stored inside the opening of the right and left sliders 11 and the vertical movement of the pad 11 is regulated by the upper reference face 22 and lower reference face 25 of the opening part according to the projections 23, 24. The pad 11 is thus separated from the magnetic recording medium 12, the pressure welding force against the magnetic recording medium 12 is reduced and the magnetic recording medium 12 is surely protected by lifting the pad 11 until the abutment of the projection 23 and upper reference face 22 at the start and stoppage time of the magnetic recording medium 12.
