PURPOSE:To permit decrease of air bubbles in a bonding glass layer and production of a good head by providing a metallic layer between the nonmagnetic substrates and bonding glass of a core which is formed by using the bonding glass to join a magnetic metallic layer and the nonmagnetic substrates. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic head is made into the construction in which both sides of the magnetic metallic layer 1 are sandwiched by the substrates 2 and the metallic layer 4 is formed between the substrate 2 and the bonding glass layer 3. The magnetic metallic layer 1 is first formed by sputtering on one face of the substrates 2 consisting of glass or ceramics, etc., and a protective layer 6 consisting of SiO2, etc. is formed on said layer 1. This protective layer acts to prevent the magnetic metallic layer from being attacked by the bonding glass. The metallic layer consisting of Cr, etc., is then formed by sputtering on another one face of the substrates 2 on which the magnetic metallic layer is not formed and the bonding glass layer is formed on such metallic layer. The head clogging by the air bubbles in the bonding glass layer is thereby prevented and the output decrease, head damage, etc. by the clogging are suppressed.
