PURPOSE:To improve drivability and fuel consumption by controlling a control valve, which is placed in a passage connecting a control pressure chamber that controls a variable venturi valve in a carburetor with a control pressure source, according to the revolution number and load of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A variable venturi valve 6, which is inserted freely in elevation in the ventury part 1a of a carburetor C, has a venturi negative pressure chamber 8 and an atmospheric pressure chamber 9 above and below a piston-shaped pressure receiving part 6a provided at the upper end. The negative pressure chamber 8 is communicated with the venturi part 1a through a small hole 11 at the bottom of a valve 6 and the atmospheric pressure chamber 9 is released to the atmospheric pressure side through a through hole 12. And the negative pressure chamber 8 is made possible to communicate with the atmospheric pressure side through an introduction tube 16 provided with a solenoid valve 14 and supply pressure to actuate the variable venturi valve 6 toward opening. In this case, the solenoid valve 14 is so controlled that it closes (opens) when the revolution number of an engine and the load increases (decreases), by a controller 22.
