PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of non-emission of ink, to reduce the use amount of a liquid recording material and to prevent the clogging of liquid jet, by variably controlling at least one of the generation interval of free emitting operation and the free emitting amount of the recording material corresponding to the size of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:At the time of recording, a carriage 1 is driven to run in the direction shown by an arrow A and each nozzle 10 of a recording head 2 is selectively driven to emit an ink droplet which is, in turn, adhered to the recording width part P, to which oblique lines are applied, of the opposed recording paper 6 in a sub-scanning direction. By this method, recording is performed by a dot matrix pattern and, when the recording of one line is finished, the carriage 1 returns to the original position and the recording paper 6 is fed by the width of the recording width part in the direction shown by an arrow C and the above mentioned operation is again repeated. After the above mentioned operation is performed over about several lines, a capping member 18 is brought into contact with the surface of the orifice of the recording head 2 under pressure and an ink droplet is emitted and free emitting operation is performed. The capping member 1 is displaced in the direction shown by an arrow E and the carriage 1 again runs in the direction shown by the arrow A to reopen the next recording. |
