Chewing gum compsns. contg. an edible shellac encapsulant for protecting the active component of chewing gum are prepd. Thus, a compsn. given example contained gum base 27, peppermint flavor 1.2, sorbitol powder 41.525, glycerine 8.0, 70% sorbitol soln. 10, pigment 0.025, mannitol powder 12, and shellac encapsulated aspartame 0.25 wt.%. The active component was coated with the shellac encapsulant using a fluidized bed coating method or roller bed coating method. |
