The invention relates to a method for disposing of crude oil-containing wastes by mixing with municipal wastes, wherein a solid municipal waste containing at least 200 g/kg of organic substances and having a volumetric density of 300 to 500 kg/m<3> is intimately mixed with the oily waste containing crude oil or by-products of crude oil processing and the crude oil content of the mixture is thus adjusted to at most 5 % by mass and the mixture is dumped (in cassettes) in conventional soil-covered landfills for the deposition of municipal wastes and, if possible, the corresponding biogas is recovered.
