PURPOSE:To obtain a stable cleaning effect by providing a humidity sensor in the vicinity of the rubbing part where a conductive fur brush is rubbed on an image carrier and adjusting the voltage value of a bias voltage applied to the conductive fur brush in accordance with a detected humidity value. CONSTITUTION:A humidity sensor 88 is arranged in the vicinity of the rubbing part where a conductive fur brush 71 is rubbed on an image carrier 40, and the ambient humidity is detected by the humidity sensor 88 and the voltage value of the bias voltage applied to the conductive fur brush 71 is switched in accordance with a preliminarily set humidity value. Since the voltage value of the bias voltage applied to the conductive fur brush 71 is switched to fix and stabilize the charging current to the image carrier even at a low humidity, damage of a photosensitive layer due to discharge is prevented to extend the life of the image carrier 40 and a stable cleaning effect is obtained. |
