PURPOSE:To improve the operation efficiency of a computer by restoring a data by backup information, to a newly-formed data set of a temporary name, and thereafter, regiving the original data set name to its data set, and continuing the processing by the newly-formed data set. CONSTITUTION:When an input/output fault by which the contents of a data set are broken down is generated in the course of an access processing to the data set requested by an application program, the application program are left in a holding state as it is. Subsequently, an operator, etc., of a computer start a data set restoration processing program, and input an instruction of a data set name to be restored, etc. The data set restoration processing program forms newly a new data set of a temporary data set name, and restores the data to its data set, and thereafter, switches a designated data set name to this new data set. When the holding state of the application program is released, the application program continues the suspended processing by the new data set. In such a way, a loss for stopping and restarting the application program is eliminated. |
