PURPOSE:To enhance the tracking capacity to the cooperative change of a target, by a method wherein the high speed Fourier transform of the observation value of the target to be tracked is performed by an FFT apparatus and the magnitude of the observation peak frequency of the target to be tracked is judged to store the combination of frequency capable of obtained good tracking capacity and a smooth gain in a gain storage device and a tracking moving average is calculated by a moving average apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The pulse wave 2 from the transmitter 5 of a target tracking apparatus is emitted from an antenna 3 and the reflected wave from a target 1 to be tracked is received by a receiver 6 through a wave guide 4. The electric signal from the receiver 6 is averaged by a moving average apparatus 7 and smoothed by a tracking filter apparatus 8. The electric signal is subjected to high speed Fourier transform by an FFT apparatus 11 to calculate peak frequency and the change magnitude of the peak frequency is judged by a frequency judge apparatus 12 to be supplied to a gain storage device 13. The average gain of the apparatus 8 is changed adaptably by the output of the device 13 and the noise of the apparatus 7 is removed to make the operation of a servo driving apparatus 10 stable.
