PURPOSE:To aim at accurate injection quantity control by measuring a span of valve opening delay time at a time when engine speed enters the specified speed range, while equalizing this measured valve opening delay time, and setting the driving signal width of an injection controlling solenoid valve on the basis of the equalized valve opening delay time. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection pump controls the opening or closing of the solenoid valve 4 installed in a pipeline interconnecting its pressure chamber and low pressure chamber whereby it controls those of fuel injection quantity, injection timing and injection rate. Driving signal width driving the solenoid valve 4 is set in due consideration of valve closing delay time, to be detected by a detector 18, ranging from valve opening indicating time to closing time of the solenoid valve 4 as well as valve opening delay time, to be detected by a detector 19, ranging from valve opening indication time to opening time of the solenoid valve 4. In this case, when engine speed to be detected by a speed detector 20 enters the specified speed range, the valve opening delay time is measured by an equaling circuit 23, while it is equalized, and the driving signal width is constituted so as to be set up on the basis of the equalized valve opening delay time.
