PURPOSE:To allow the titled device to correspond to rapid communication without sharply increasing the processing speed of an encoding/decoding mean and a data transfer speed between the encoding/decoding means and a storing means by executing the decoding of received data and the encoding of transmitting data independently of a communication speed. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 1 specifies a data transfer direction to an encoding/decoding circuit 13 and a data speed converting circuit 14 to start these circuits 13, 14. A data transfer direction control circuit 17 controls the transfer direction so that data can be transferred between both the circuits 14, 13. Thus, the decoding of the received data and the encoding of the transmitting data can be executed independently of the communication speed. Even if the processing speed of the encoding/decoding means is not increased, the titled device can be allowed to correspond to rapid processing.
