The detector incorporates a photo-electric detector whose emitter projects a light beam towards the zone of the machine where the caps pass. The beam is returned by their reflecting surfaces to the receptor, and the detector remains inoperative so long as this reflection is received. In the absence of a cap, causing disequilibrium between emitter and receptor, the photoelectric detector actuates, through a pulse conformer, bistable circuit and signal amplifier, a relay which switches off the motor of the machine and switches on a circuit which signals the cause of the stoppage.
