The air conditioner reduces the unnecessary power loss by defrosting after comparing the temp. of heat exchanger and setting temp., and provides warm air in initial driving time by switching on the fan motor (PN) after checking the temp. of the heat exchanger. It comprises a timer (10) for setting the driving time, a temp. setting and sensing circuit (20) for controlling a compressor (CM), a defrosting and valve actuating circuit (30) for controlling a valve (BV), and a fan driving circuit (40) for controlling the fan motor (PN).
