PURPOSE:To operate the title fresh water generator under stable temp. conditions by separately setting the amt. of steam to be supplied to a seawater heater provided to a seawater line extending from a preheater to an evaporator and the amt. of steam to be supplied to he first stage. CONSTITUTION:The multiple-effect fresh water generator device is formed with a multiple-effect evaporator obtained by vertically placing unit stage consisting of an evaporator 1 and a preheater 2 on one another in >=5 stages and a condenser 3 for condensing the steam from the terminal stage. In the operation of the device, the amt. of steam to be supplied to the seawater heater 4 provided to the seawater line extending from the preheater 2 to the evaporator 1 and the amt. of steam to be supplied to the first stage are separately set, and the overall heat balance is kept constant. As a result, the device can always be operated under stable temp. conditions, and the device can be operated at 100% capacity at all times.
