PURPOSE:To obtain a device of simple constitution which has small parallax among respective photodetecting elements and high photodetection efficiency by providing a diffraction grating to a transparent optical member which guides light to a wavelength selecting member for selecting the wavelength of the light incident on the individual photodetecting elements. CONSTITUTION:The photodetecting elements 11-13 where color filters 14-16 having wavelength selectivity are stuck detect the R, G, and B components of incident luminous flux respectively. Then the transparent optical member 17 is arranged in front of the elements 11-13 and the diffraction grating 18 consisting of grating grooves, etc., is provided thereupon to scatter and project the incident luminous flux in the array direction of the elements 11-13. Here, when the array direction of the elements 11-13 is coincident with the Y axis of a three-dimensional coordinate system, the X axis is in the traveling direction of light from a subject and the grating grooves of the grating 18 are arranged in parallel to the Z axis and periodically, e.g. at equal intervals in the Y-axial direction. Then when light from an illumination light source is projected on a subject, its reflected light is scattered by the grating 18 intensely in the array direction of the elements 11-13 and incident equally on the elements 11-13. Thus, the parallax among the elements 11-13 is reduced and the influence of the color pattern of the subject is minimized.
