The bath (1) containing water in which a person is immersed for long periods for e.g. medical treatment, and fitted with a cover (2) also contains a flexible sheet (4) dividing the bath into upper and lower zones (6,7). Between the upper zone (6) and lower zone (7) are supply lines fitted with valves and pumps (13,15) which can be selectively operated to circulate the water through a continuous sterilising unit (10), a UV steriliser (11) and a continuous heater (12) and also to clean the dividing sheet. The sheet, which is secured by rings forced into grooves in the sides of the bath, can be lifted towards the cover, by the pressure and transfer of the water, is sprayed by water discharged through openings (19) in the cover. Incorporated in one line are coarse and fine filters (8,9). USE/ADVANTAGE - Patients are protected from cross infection by cleaning the bath and the water.
