Behind the front panel and door of a stove for e.g. a living room, is a shell (2) enclosing the combustion chamber (4) and forming a connection with the flue pipe in the chimney above. The shell has an arch shape, and in each vertical side (6,7) is vertical flue (21,22). The two arms of each flue are connected by a horizontal channel (25) at the bottom. The top of one vertical part (21) is connected to the combustion chamber. The top of the other vertical part (22) is connected by an upper horizontal channel to a central zone communicating with the chimney. A control flap is incorporated in the centre of the base of the upper horizontal channel, while a second flap is incorporated inside the flue in the chimney. The door is of ceramic glass, and the back (5) is of steel or cast iron. ADVANTAGE - The two flaps can be operated so that heat is trapped inside after the fuel has burnt.
