PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of backfire and expand the choking at low combustion side while securing the linear property of the amount of combustion, by a method wherein the comb type end of a first combustion unit is covered by part of a second combustion unit to the vicinity of the first flame port body of the first combustion unit via a bulkhead plate. CONSTITUTION:Fuel, heated in an evaporating chamber 4, is mixed with combustion air while being evaporated and flows out of the evaporating chamber 4 through respective first to fourth flame port bodies 12, 13, 17, 18. Jet flame and flat plane flame are formed in both areas of the first combustion unit 19 and the second combustion unit 20 under high combustion while a ventilating port 15 is closed by a damper 25 and only the jet flame is formed in the lower combustion unit 19 under low combustion. The comb type part of the combustion unit 19 is covered by the flame port body 17, forming the combustion unit 20, to the vicinity of fine holes 11, therefore, the outflow of premixture gas from the comb type openings of the combustion units 19, 20 is prevented and flames may be formed stably to the vicinity of the part covered by the flame port body 17. As a result, the outflow of unburnt gas at low combustion is prevented and the choking ratio of the amount of combustion can be expanded.
