The present invention relates to an automatic method for scanning channels on selective call in a radio telephone network, comprising a collection of hardware making it possible to produce radio telephone links between one or more sets, fixed or mobile, by way possibly of one or more automatic relays, and being provided with a selective call device, each set, fixed or mobile being furnished with a call number, the said method including, for each set requesting the despatch of a selective-call sequence comprising successively at least: - a phase of despatch of the number of the relay to be activated N3; - a phase of despatch of the number of the set requested N2; the said method comprising, furthermore, a phase of despatch of a homing tone TR situated after the first phase N3.
